Commitment Preparation Instructions

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

This basic skill level program is designed to provide ATG member attorneys and their support staff with an understanding of ATG's search and commitment preparation standards for those using the ATG Title Services Complete program. The speaker will present a step-by-step review of a basic title search along with detailed instructions on completing ATG's Agent Commitment Preparation Instructions. This program will include a discussion of the following:
  • What documentation is included in the search package;
  • How to read the search printouts;
  • What the effective date is and where to find it;
  • How to determine who is vested in title;
  • How to verify the legal description and PIN;
  • How to determine the location of easements and setbacks;
  • What exceptions to raise on the title commitment; and
  • How to detect fraud in the chain of title.

CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION INFORMATION:

ATG is an Illinois Accredited Continuing Legal Education Provider. This program qualifies for 1.50 hours of MCLE credit.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

ATG Title Services Complete member attorneys, and their support staff.

ATTENDEE RATES:

The following per person rates apply for this program:
  • $50 | Active ATG member attorneys (*issued and remitted at least one policy during the current year)
  • $25 | Paralegals and staff employed by active ATG member attorneys
  • $95 | Inactive ATG member attorneys and their paralegals and staff; non-member attorneys; others
