Without a doubt, he was the most respected real estate lawyer of his era. His most important professional legacy was his deep devotion to the issues facing real estate practitioners. He was a prolific author and speaker at the local, state, and national level. His common-sense advice of 30 years ago still rings true today.
I was fortunate to have him take me under his wing when I was a third-year law student working almost full time at ATG-Advocus. Early on he said, “If you are going to be credible to practicing lawyers, we need to make you the second most prolific writer and speaker of issues facing the real estate bar.”
From there, Harold and I wrote dozens of articles and spoke at every imaginable bar association event locally and nationally including the ABA. Harold also helped position me with the media so I would become a go-to guy for real estate reporters.
But more importantly, Harold was like a second father to me. I am forever grateful to him and his wife Barbara for the care they extended through the decades of our friendship. They called me “their fourth son,” a moniker I wear proudly.
Harold was a strong believer in education and sharing ideas. So please join me October 17 in Oakbrook for a few hours of education and discussion. The topics are timely and intended to serve you, the practicing lawyer, in a manner both consistent with the ATG-Advocus mission and befitting of Harold’s name.
Register today, and I’ll look forward to seeing you next week!
