ATG Honored at the ISBA Lawyers Feeding Illinois Awards Ceremony

ISBA President John E. Thies and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan presented awards to ATG and other winners of the ISBA Lawyers Feeding Illinois food and fundraising campaign during an awards ceremony at the ISBA’s Chicago Regional office on May 8, 2013. They also presented checks to representatives of Illinois’ eight regional food banks.

The campaign, whose goal was to raise at least one million meals, raised more than 3.7 million meals with the help of lawyers, lawyer teams, and more than 2,000 donors for the benefit of Illinoisans facing hunger. This latest figure takes into account Attorney General Madigan’s announcement that her office would distribute $500,000 in funding from several legal settlements to food banks across Illinois to help feed families and people in need. Madigan said the money will make food available to local food pantries that serve each of Illinois’ 102 counties.

ATG received the Hunger Relief Partner Award and the Large Law Firm Category for the most food and money raised! ATG’s Sarah Boeckman and John O’Brien were on hand to receive the award on behalf of ATG. The combined efforts of ATG members and staff totaled $25,395 in funds and 732 pounds of food. These contributions will go a long way toward supporting Feeding Illinois in its effort to stock the eight regional food banks in our state.

We extend our thanks to the ATG members whose offices served as drop sites. Another special thanks to ATG top member firms Codilis and Associates and Pierce and Associates, each of whom made sizeable financial donations to Team ATG. We could not have done it without you.

We can all be proud of the meaningful work we did to help curb the very serious problem of hunger in Illinois. Congratulations to all the lawyers and groups who made this campaign a success. Read the LFI Campaign Wrap-up and the Illinois Lawyer Now article for details.
