UPDATE FROM ATG ADMINISTRATION:

Greetings from ATG's President

Happy Holidays!

Peter Birnbaum photoIn this holiday season, I want to give you my sincere wishes for a safe, happy, and prosperous new year.

It was a pleasure to greet many of you at our Holiday Reception last week. We had nearly 600 members and their guests at the Adler Planetarium for a beautiful night of music, food, and camaraderie. As I looked around that room—with replicas of the planets all around, a stunning view of the city as our backdrop, the sounds of great music, and roars of laughter—I could not help but think how fortunate we are as an organization. We are in a business that is at the epicenter of the economic woes of the last four years, and yet here we are—celebrating as an ATG family. We have ridden out so many storms together, overcome challenges brought by sweeping regulations and other obstacles, and in the face of it all, we are ending the best financial year in our history. As we continue to enjoy this growth and financial success, the timing was perfect to gather in such great numbers and with such warmth and enthusiasm. It’s both humbling and heartwarming.

In attendance were members who date back to our 1964 founding, others who started around the time I did, and some new faces as well. There were several kids of long-term ATG members who are now themselves young lawyers or are otherwise launched into their careers. I’ve known many of them their whole lives. You trust me and the ATG staff to be stewards of this remarkable organization. That is a responsibility we take seriously. But you are stewards too, and it is your efforts in your practices that allow us to succeed. Seeing those “kids” was a meaningful reminder.

It’s been an eventful year at ATG—look for my annual update in January 2013 and I’ll tell you all about it. Until then, check out our year-end giving spree, and know that I wish you and your family a very happy and safe holiday season.

Sincerely,

Peter Birnbaum
ATG President and CEO
