City of Chicago Discontinuing Multiple Dwelling Building Registrations

Effective Date:
Wednesday, September 6, 2017 - 12:00am

As of September 6, 2017, the City of Chicago no longer requires sellers to obtain a multiple dwelling (four or more units) building registration. Since the repeal of this requirement, it is no longer necessary for recording—despite the fact that the requirement still appears on MyDec. Here is the notice from the Department of Buildings, City of Chicago:

Effective September 6, 2017, the City Council passed an ordinance that repeals the Multiple Dwelling Registration provisions (Chapter 13-10 of the Municipal Code of Chicago).  Please note that the department will no longer require or accept registrations of multiple dwellings pursuant to Chapter 13-10 effective immediately.
