Filing Illinois PTAX with MyDec

In May 2014, the State of Illinois began transitioning to an online PTAX filing form called MyDec. The goal is to incorporate all Illinois counties by the end of 2015. As of this writing, It is in effect for transactions in the following counties:

  • Cook County
  • DuPage County
  • Peoria County
  • Sangamon County

If it isn't in effect in your county yet, it will be soon. Even if you choose to continue to use your current software, you still must register with MyDec in order to issue electronic stamps. Electronic stamps will be available only for declarations originating in MyDec.

We have created an OnDemand program to help you with this transition. How to Submit a MyDec: Signing Up and Completing the IL-PTAX presents step-by-step instructions for setting up your MyDec account, adding your own closer, and filling out and submitting the form for your transactions.
