Illinois Attorneys: URGENT - Oppose House Bill 5188

TIME SENSITIVE: Action Needed by Tuesday, April 10, 2018

For 175 years, Illinois has had a common law interpretation of Section 30 of the Conveyances Act as a race-notice recording act. House Bill 5188 seeks to overturn the common law and make Illinois a pure notice recording state. If passed, this change would create claims on title policies you write, create new risks for buyers of land, and make it harder for you to represent sellers.

ATG needs your help in opposing HB 5188. On Tuesday, April 10 at 8:00 a.m., the Real & Personal Property Law Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee is meeting to consider HB 5188. Tell them now that you oppose it -- submit a Witness Slip to the subcommittee. Click the button below for instructions.
