FRANCIS MARION BRITTINGHAM
1921 - 2004

Francis Brittingham, former shareholder and board member of ATG, died in March at age 83. A native of Danville, Illinois, Mr. Brittingham graduated from the University of Illinois in 1942. He served in World War II as a cryptologist in the Sixth Armored Division in France and Germany. Upon his return, he completed law school at the University of Illinois and was admitted to the bar in 1946.

He practiced with his father and later formed a partnership with another long-time ATG supporter, Ivan Sadler, who died in 1996. Brittingham was a founding member of Attorneys' Title and served on our board from 1964 to 1983. He also served as president from 1974 to 1976 and chairman of the board from 1976 to 1978.

His career included serving on the board of directors of United Community Bank for more than 50 years, directory of Vermilion County Abstract Company, and co-ownership of Danville Cash & Carry Lumber. Mr. Brittingham was also a founding member of the John E. Cribbett Society of the University of Illinois College of Law. His will specified that the redemption of his ATG and National Title Assurance Fund (NATAF) stock be donated to the University of Illinois Foundation for the benefit of the John E. Cribbett Society. Because he owned a significant amount of both, the total benefit to the College of Law was $34,000.

ATG sends its deep gratitude to the Brittingham family.
