Navigating a Real Estate Transaction:
A Seminar for Law Students and New Attorneys

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

According to the American Bar Association, the largest percentage of the general practitioner’s business involves real estate transactions. A thorough understanding of the closing process, tax aspects, contracts, financing, and title insurance is essential for today’s general practitioner.

Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest and most important financial transactions of a person’s lifetime and is often the first experience with an attorney. A positive experience will be remembered to your benefit. Experienced real estate practitioners will navigate through a typical real estate transaction, covering the following topics:

  • Establishing a real estate practice;
  • Representing the buyer and the seller;
  • Preparing standard contracts, deeds, and other forms;
  • Understanding mortgage financing and how to explain it to clients; and
  • Taking title—different methods and the tax ramifications of each.

Get a strong background for your real estate practice along with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to represent your clients.
