ATG Chosen for Prestigious Chicago-Kent Alumni Award

Recipient of College of Law Alumni Association's 2017 Institutional Partner

Chicago-Kent College of Law will present Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. with the Institutional Partner Award at its annual awards dinner on November 16, 2017 (see details and ticket information).

ATG President and CEO Peter J. Birnbaum, a 1983 graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law, will be accepting the award. "ATG is honored to receive this award, which affirms our 37-year relationship and commitment to the school. I am so proud to be an alum; Chicago-Kent has consistently been the leader in trial advocacy, intellectual property, and technology under the leadership of Dean Krent. I look forward to the school continuing its rich tradition of innovation." Birnbaum said.

The Institutional Partner Award recognizes a law firm or corporation that has had a significant impact on Chicago-Kent and/or on the lives of alumni and students by assisting in the advancement, growth and/or development of the law school, especially as their involvement directly impacts students and alumni.

A past president of the Alumni Board and a current member of the Board of Overseers of Chicago-Kent, Birnbaum was honored with a Distinguished Service Award from the college in 2004 and was named one of Chicago-Kent's 125 Alumni of Distinction for his professional and community service achievements in 2013.

"I am proud to say that my graduating class produced some of the most successful alums in the law school's 129-year history, including Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne M. Burke, many appellate court justices, managing partners at several major law firms, some of the best trial lawyers in Chicago, and the CEOs of many notable companies," Birnbaum said. "This award certainly adds to the luster of that graduating class."

Birnbaum started at ATG in 1981 as a law clerk while attending Chicago-Kent, and was named president and CEO in 1991. Founded in 1964, ATG has developed under his leadership into a lawyer service organization whose annual revenues exceed $90 million.
