Lawyers Rock Combines Passions: Good Works, Golf, Music

The Thornes, Featuring Peter Birnbaum on Drums, Win Fan Favorite Award

The Lawyers Rock Golf Classic was a big success! ATG was a License to Rock sponsor, with all proceeds going to the Illinois Bar Foundation. The sold-out event included a classic golf scramble at historic Cog Hill, followed by a lively reception featuring performances by Lawyers Rock Hall of Famers The Thornes, Flood Waters, and opening music by former ISBA President, Joe Bisceglia!

Previous Lawyers Rock events were concert fundraisers in a theater setting featuring bands made up of local lawyers vying for bragging rights and awards. The Thornes are multi-year winners of the Fan Favorite award. The 2021 event had a different format and served as a welcome in-person reunion of friends and colleagues. As with all past Lawyers Rock events, proceeds help the Illinois Bar Foundation ensure access to justice and support juvenile justice causes through the Foundation's M. Denny Hassakis Fund.

The Thornes take home gold in 2021!

The musical performances went over big with guests—shown at far right is ATG Board Member Aurora Austriaco.

No bar event is complete without John O'Brien. The longtime Arlington Heights-based lawyer, ATG member, IRELA founder, former ISBA president, IBF fellow, and retired ATG Vice President introduced the bands and greeted guests at the Lawyers Rock Golf Classic.
