No Surprise: ATG Remains Committed to Lawyer-Agent Model

Peter J. Birnbaum photoWith the summer season just beginning, I wanted to touch base with our agents and other colleagues about a very important topic. You've all received several communications from us about our change in ownership, which became effective April 1, 2022.

Here’s the most important part of that news for our attorney agents and the clients we all serve:

ATG remains committed to the lawyer-agent model we brought to the market in 1964. While pursuing new ownership, our highest priority was to find a buyer who shares a similar vision, who is as dedicated to preserving our business model as we are. With the support of Guaranteed Rate, ATG will continue to be the single most ardent and effective advocate for lawyers in the conveyancing process. You have our word on that.

Guaranteed Rate’s President and CEO Victor Ciardelli said it best, "I understand and appreciate the importance of the lawyer’s role in real estate transactions, which is why Guaranteed Rate is committed to the lawyer-agent business model created by ATG. We look forward to building on ATG’s success by giving its lawyers and the consumers they serve the technology, tools, and additional support that will enable ATG to flourish in the years to come."

Guaranteed Rate sees the ATG acquisition as a way for it to grow its title insurance business. It also sees the ATG model in Illinois as something it can expand into other markets. All of this includes you, practicing attorneys, at the top of the priority list. We appreciate your ongoing support and welcome your feedback.
